IH 674 and haymaking troubles

I have a borrowed IH 674 tractor and various equipment including a New Holland 489 Haybine. The Haybine is giving trouble as we try to get in a very delayed (weather out of state weddings) 1st cutting. The stems are about 4ft and I was having to go in low gear and still would clog the cutters. Finally, it would not move more than 4ft without clogging, so I decided I had to quit and see if I could figure out how to tighten the cutter drive belt (the rollers continue to turn, but the cutter and rake stop). Anybody know how to fix that?

When I decided to quit and head for the barn, the haybine would no longer lift, and sure enough, the IH674 is out of hydraulic fluid. This should be easier...where is the fill point and will typical ag hydraulic fluid be OK? This is a borrowed tractor...the owner moved to another nearby town and left it for me to use and I have no contact info for him. We used to work together to do about 6 fields, including mine, but he ran the haybine and baler with his 674 and I would run the tedder, rake, and the elevator for stacking in the barn with my tractor, so I have no manuals on his stuff.

Napa PREMIUM hydraulic fluid will be ok
Just don?t use the real cheap still you have wet
brakes and pto clutches that will disintegrate with
that crap. As for the haybine sounds like you might
need new set of knives and maybe even guards
