Farmall H 1949 Manual

My tractor has been sitting for about 10 years. I am getting close to try and starting it again. I am looking for an on line manual that describes how to check levels of Oil, Hydraulic Fluid, and basic maintenance stuff? Thanks

I think a YouTube video would work better for you than an online
manual place. Most of those "free" manuals places either cost a
membership charge or require you to download their proprietary
software.

You could probably buy an operator's manual reprint or photocopy
cheap from eBay. That's a lot safer than online.

Nothing I've ever seen on-line. You can get Operators manual, parts book, and different service manuals
from Binder Books, Google them, best quality. Some will suggest shopping for manuals on Evil-Bay but
I've been more than happy with Binder.

Forget that 'online' crap. Go order a real paper book that you can take out to the shop and get your hands on. Order from BinderBooks;Ebay;this site;CIH dealer......If you need some info,we can help answer specific questions.

Thanks for the advice, I went to EBay and ordered an Owners Manual for about $17.00. I just need guidance in checking fluid levels correctly. I am use to working on cars but not Tractors from 1949.

If it has been sitting that long before I even tried to turn it over I would give it an ATF treatment and fill the cylinders with ATF so as to free up sticking rings and also clean up the cylinder of any rust they will have in them

Some answers. The oil filter is inside the can with a dome on the right side. There is a gasket/square Oring in the bottom of the groove it fits into.
it must be replaced. It will be hard as steel, but keep at it. The oil level is checked by opening the small petcocks on the side of the oil pan. the
top one is full, the bottom one is about a quart low. The engine oil can be 15-40 diesel grade (works well, don't go with the 30wt non detergent). Oil
is put into the right side of the engine by removing a winged cover (Fruit jar sized lid, you need an adjustable wrench, lefty loosy) trans takes 85-90
gear oil. and the level is checked on the left side under where your left foot resides. Square head plug. The hydraulic is filled under the gas tank
on the right side. looks like a bakers hat. It should have a dip stick but if not the level is about 8 inches down from the pipe the cap fits on.
Hytran is good fluid. or universal tractor fluid. The air cleaner cup should be cleaned and filled to the full line with the engine oil. (buy 8
quarts). grease all fittings including the crank snout shaft (under) I hope this addresses your immediate needs. Jim
