F-14 throttle/governor

So my F-14 doesn't want to start. It has been a couple years so I'm sure some things are stuck. The throttle linkage is all tight. I can move the lever going into the governor but it doesn't move the vertical shaft that goes up to the carburetor. I've never torn into one of these until now. I'll try and post a basic picture. Any thoughts?

I don't think tis going to unless the engine is spinning. Been awhile since Ive been into mine. Take that L shaped cover off at the top and see if the linkage moves there, by hand.

Hey John I took that top cover off and nothing wants to move up there either. I figured I could try to take the linkages apart and trace which part is actually frozen but some of those linkages look to be hard to get apart the way they're sitting. Afraid to break anything.

Josh, might be best to remove the carb, as that could be stuck too. Than you would know if it is the governor or the carb.
In your picture the large shaft end you see has the thruster bearings and weights. you should be able to pull on the throttle linkage and see if the forks move? you should be able to move the forks with a screw driver a little and see if the vertical shaft going up to the carb linkage moves. the hole governor assembly can pull out, best to take it off before removing parts. 3 large 3/4" bolts will pull the housing but the rear arm is in the gas tank bracket. unless you remove gas tank and support first you will need to remove a very small cotter pin and linkage pin to remove that arm. I will stop there best you see if you can get it freed up in place.

I couldn't get anything to wiggle before so I took the carb off. And in that process I think it shook itself loose because now everything moves. The throttle, the vertical shaft, the carb linkages up top. It does stick a little bit when I pull the throttle all the way back... The governor arm doesn't want to let go right away. Not sure if I should/could oil that somehow?

Plus I notice the governor bearings/weights don't spring right back out... They move slowly. Is there a spring behind them? Or is that something where the tractor needs to be running maybe.

I figure since I have the carb off I just as well clean it up. Thanks for your help

Josh, The weights will take care of them selves when running just make sure there are free. make sure all parts move and lube all with oil. I will be ok when all together and running.
