IHC W-30 throttle........

Timing should be ok....I moved mag coupler back one hole and wouldn't run- so I put it back where I had it and runs ok and starts fine. My problem is when I pull the throttle back - or open ....most of the time it doesnt accelerate - or does so slowly; if I do this 2 or 3 times then it will pick up to top speed- which doesn't sound like its fast enough. I know its hard to say when you cant see it- just still not running like it should. Thanks.

The shaft that runs from carb to gov. should move freely in tube.

Maybe idle is set right- sounds about 1000 rpm; my tractor has a hand throttle on the right fender- maybe an add-on? But it connects to the shaft going into the oil box (maybe governor) How do I "unstick or free up" the shaft? Thanks.

Do you have a variable-speed governor or a constant-speed governor?
Sounds like you have a constant speed governor.

I really have no clue...someone on here told me awhile back that "back in the day" some folks would unhook the throttle on the steering wheel and install a handle on the fender for the throttle(governor) and thats whats I have; seems like sometimes it opens and sometimes it just stays at idle even tho the throttle is pulled wide open. Thanks.

The function (lever on the fender) is a variable-speed governor, but it could easily be non-functioning due to dried grease and dirt or worn parts. My dad had a W-30 with the fender throttle control and it worked fine.
