That thing really is straight, all of them you see in original condition around here have the grill all mangled up from people running them into stuff.

Lots like you got some new tires with it too. Does it run?

The grandpa is in a nursing home the grandson I bought it
from is unsure of much about it except engine does turn over
Going to pull the valve cover and pan look over everything
clean the carb and tank and tune it up and see what happens
It is sitting on brand new tires rears still have stickers on them

eddiev,

Please share your photos with the elder. He will appreciate that the tractor went to an honest person who acknowledges the value of the hard work to earn it.

D.

Those are some cool looking rear wheel weights, bet there heavy! Never seen anything like that on a 6 before. Seen odd set on a IH 660 before, but they go around the planetary setup. Thanks for the pictures.

Nice looking tractor. Hope you get it running.
I wouldn't even paint that one--just clean it up good and leave it.
Interesting location for that rear tail light.

I wouldn't take the pan off right away but would take valve cover off to see that valves are free. I would put some thing on top of pistons to get it loose. You may want to let it set for several weeks with what ever you put on top of pistons. By looking at this tractor it must have been in fairly good shape because they put new hoses and dist. cap you don't put new tires on a tractor thats in bad shape. The tractor is very clean and sheet metal looks great.

D,

Thanks for the reply it is loose mostly think there is little tight spot yes going to soak everything and see how we come out it?s an amazing tractor.

[color=blue:bee569520e][/color:bee569520e] Eddie V...that is some Wide Open country....where are you located ?? back here in Maine we can't see more that 50ft off the road...to many trees in the way.

I have always liked the western "wheet land" tractors. They are such tough and chunky looking brutes. Only thing is no hydraulic draw bar. All of the other tractors had draw bars that can go up and down. With these you just had guts and power. Love your new toy.

What do you mean by "hydraulic drawbar"?

"All of the other tractors had draw bars that can go up and down." Please explain as that's not true. The draw bars of MANY tractors are very similar to the one on this W6 where the main bar is fixed vertically and can swing horizontally (if desired) to ease turning at field ends.

If you are thinking of 3 point hitch, that's something entirely diferent.
