Farmall H schwarts front end

Hello y’all. A local near me is selling an H with a schwarts wide front end in need of a restoration. I stopped to ask him about it and it has a bad intake valve. (The noise and compression is coming through the air filter) His price is 500 and I can’t decide if it’s worth it or not. How hard is it to replace a valve? Is it simpler to buy a good complete engine and swap it?
Does the wide front increase the value? I’ve seen a schwarts front end on Craigslist before but didn’t know anything about them.
Any info or stories is greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Simple head repair. Pull the head and have it serviced by a competent shop. (probably ~500) new gaskets from this site, and fluids. Probably another
150. Now you have a 1200 dollar usable tractor. Jim

Swapping out an engine for a valve issue is like doing a double-lung transplant for a case of the sniffles.

I've done valves before and it's not terribly difficult if the seat is salvageable. All you need is a valve seat cutter to do minor cleanup, a new valve, and lapping compound to lap the valve in. Probably can borrow the cutter from someone, and everything else is cheap. Fix it all in for about $50. Won't be a new head, but this isn't the space shuttle. We're not talking about building a tractor that's going to work its guts out 10 hours a day, 6 days a week.
