Connecting rod cap bolts

I rebuilding a H engine. Can you use lock tight instead of the metal bolt locks? Having a a discussion about this. I say you have to use the metal locks. But have been told that lock tight works just as good.

Most engines now don't use the locks. Never have seen a rod bolt loosen up.

i would trust blue locktite, as its the removeable stuff and no way the nuts will loosen. never have seen rod nuts loosen anyhow.

I don't use the locks, but I use new
washers, the old ones tend to crack. I
get the washers from a company called
ARP. They are the leaders in the
industry. Torque with 30 wt non
detergent oil.
