farmall 300 gas strainer

tractor was starving for gas i am stumped...gas bowl is off an gas cap off,,,open valve gas gushes out put glass bowl on it stops,,let pressure off glass bowl, gas gushes ,push glass up by hand it stops ,let off gas gushes...gas cap is off tank...what is goin on....never seen that...what could it be.......stumped ,,,,,,,,,thanks in advance............dewy

Take the line off the carb, needle is closed.

If the needle valve is closed in the carburetor and doesn't leak and bowl doesn't leak gas won't flow until needle valve opens in the carburetor when fuel level in it drops. Gas line stopped up or the inlet screen of the carburetor would do the same. Take gas line loose at the carburetor, then turn shut off on and see what flow is to there. If good take fitting out of carburetor and check for blockage at screen.

I would take the line off at the carb and see if it will flow to there, if it does then onto carb, good luck!

Simple physics 2 fluids cannot be in the same place at the same time and what is going on is the carb float is up because the carb is full of gas and the sediment bowl is also full of air which in turn acts like a liquid in this case so 2 elements cannot be in the same space at the same time. If you where to pull the carb drain plug the sediment bowl would fill with gas or if you start it when the float falls it will fill with gas. Simple physics 101 high school teaching

If he has a hung float with an empty bowl or a plugged additional strainer in the line would blow this .

That is normal when putting bowl back on. If you crack the line at carb it should fill.
