Alterntor on W4

I think gene's "t" key is broken, and the response should read:

"If you can't make a bracket, usually not."

To me that means, if you try to use the factory mount like you would on an M, it will not fit.

There are conversion brackets available. You don't need to make one.

However, the Hitachi 14231 alternator is roughly the same size and shape as a Delco generator, maybe slightly smaller, and is a much easier fit.

If you use the original generator bracket,NO it will not fit.If you make,or buy a custom bracket, yes it will fit nicely. Then you Will have to get a new different length belt.I've done 6 H/M,400..... tractors. makes a nice outfit.

I have done it with Farmall H,M,C,300,and 400. The alternator fits under the hood fine. You will have to make a bracket or buy an alternator bracket made specifically for a Farmall H. Steiner tractor parts sells the bracket.

I just checked YT. they only carry the universal bracket. That will not work. You need the bracket made for a Farmall H. Steiner tractor parts might be the only one that has it.

My Delco 10SI fits under the hood of my 1950 H with a dollar-bills worth thickness to spare. But it does fit.
