560 D easy ride seat

After purchasing a bushing kit for it a couple years ago I got around to fixing it. I found that the suspension on my parts 560 seat was better than the good one so I used it. Getting the "type 1 groove pins" out was a real job. I used roll(spring) pins putting it back together. Definitely made a real difference it doesn't wobble all over now and lifts up when you get off. Does anyone know if they make a special tool to remove those groove pins?

these were straight pins but reading about "type 1" groove pins it appears they have a raised part on each side. That was the way the old ones looked.

I done my seat a couple years back, If I run into the old parts I check for taper.

Either way you need a BIG hammer and a BIG solid drift. Then get the shaft supported well and swing the hammer with authority. They should move OK, then when flush with shaft go to a pin punch.

I have a 3/4 rod I use as a drift, for bigger stuff I have a king pin from a semi tractor, 2" maybe??

Minimum hammer for me would be a 4# to start them.

I tried hammering them out, but before I had a heart attack, I grabbed the the air hammer.

Drove them right out.

I'd go so far as to say it's the only way to remove them, it's that much easier.
