Farmall M hand crank ratchet

As you can see I have rebuilt my bolster with a new lower bushing, upper bushing, steering shaft bushing, and seals. Now I damaged the collar that the spring seats on for my hand crank ratchet so I had the machine shop make a piece to go in there. I noticed before that there was a lot of play before the spring actually touched the collar so my thinking was I could just have the shop make a spacer so that?s what I did but now I am concerned that the ratchet will not engage far enough to contact the crankshaft to turn it. I need someone to measure the distance of how far it takes to engage the crankshaft from the back of the bolster like is shown in my pictures I would greatly appreciate it and also you can see how far my hand crank assembly goes in now.
Thanks
Trent

Our MD would probably be different length. I would think it would need all the travel and the free travel before the spring is not a big deal. You also want some play so the shaft and crank engage sleeve don't set up in the casting. there is also a grease fitting on the bottom of the bolster for that.
