574 Oil/Hydraulic Capacity

Hey guys,

Planning on changing the hydraulic fluid in a 574.

New filters for both hydraulic and oil.

Planning on running a 10w30 heavy diesel oil, or a 15w40. Any thoughts?

Also, I am planning on running Case IH Hytran Ultraction. Is that the Hytran people say is ok? Read that it is good to overfill the
hydraulics. How much is enough with loader?

There are 2 or 3 drain plugs for the tranny. It usually takes almost 10 gallons. You probably won't lose much from the loader. I doubt overfilling this tranny would be beneficial. Hytran is best. The engine should hold 2 gallons. I like multi grade oil best also.Mark.

Hi for 574 with D-239 Diesel engine - crankcase oil change with filter is 9 Qts.
Hydraulic is 9 gals, you can overfill by 5 gals. I am not sure if these are USA Qts/Gals or imperial measure.

My brother uses Shell Rotella T 15W40 in his 684 with D-239 in summer and 5W30 in winter.
Hydraulic oil CIH Hytran or equivalent.

If you over fill the transmission very much it will run out the dipstick tube. Engine is 9 quarts with a bout 2 more for the filter. Trans oil is like said about 10 gallon. We have been using 15W-40 in ours for decades.
