Its not all original and has a repaint and the wrong decals installed. Even IH would have done a better job of putting on the model decal.

the tractor did have a repaint sometime in its life but the stickers were taped over and are original to the tractor. I seen some old photos in the internet with that same decal on the hood of a w4 but hadd international on the front grill.

The "Standard" may be original but I suspect it was put on sometime in the early 1960's. The
"International" is not correct at all, wrong Font that wasn't used until about 1964. The McCormick-
Deering nameplate on the grill is correct but has been painted over, should be clear anodized aluminum
with black background.
Even the W-4 decal is wrong font of printing, most likely a cheap non-OEM decal, and crooked. Guy Fay's
Letter Series Restoration Guide hadn't been printed when all this incorrect work was done.

I don't have a problem with incorrect decals, or even emblems being painted over. Not the Correct Police.
Just don't try to convince us it's All Original when we know better.

What does the I.D. tag say?

McCormick-Deering is the W4 and O4.

The industrial version, I4, is an International, and would have the "International" grill emblem as well as "International" hood decals.

There are many more W4s than I4s, so I will guess that the hood is not original to the tractor. Either that, or maybe the grill is not original.

Also, the I4, International version, has a foot throttle as well as the hand throttle, and also has a transmission brake that applies when the clutch pedal is fully depressed.

The "correct" restoration materials were not always available like they are now. People made do with what they could find, even using mailbox numbers from the hardware store if all else failed.

All we can really say about this tractor is the decals are not correct. At least for me there isn't even enough of the tractor visible in the pictures to determine if it is a W4 or an I4. I'd need to at least see the rear wheels. If it has 5 lugs holding the rim and 3 holes for wheel weights, it is usually a W4. An I4 generally has 8 lugs holding the rim and 4 holes for wheel weights.

ok, thanks for all the input, the decals were probably put on when that’s all they had . It is a McCormick Deering w4

I agree with Dr Evil about the International decal and repaints probably in the 60s. I have had many with that decal
I4s had clamshell fenders, w6 wheel weights and non w4 rear hubs. - that's a w4
