Plow Farmall Cub

Norway

New User
Hello Im new here.
Im living in Norway (Europe)

I bought a used plow for my Farmall Cub 1953, it was very rusted, so I had it sandblasted.
Now I like to paint it.
Anyone here who know the color?

The plow number is: IH512320R1

That is the part number of the plow beam. The plow is a Cub-193.

The whole thing is Harvester Blue except for the wear surfaces (face of bottom, landside, coulter disk) which are unpainted. The unpainted surfaces should be covered with something to prevent rust but will rub off easily when the plow is used.

Thanks for your answer Jim. Since the number I wrote is the part number of the head beam, where do I find the plow identification Cub-193?
I looked up the Harvester Blue at internet, and found that this colour is very much like the Fordson Blue.
Do you argree?
Here in Europe we have very many Fordson
I have one my self and also have some paint left I know for sure.
Do you think I can use this coulor?

Here in the United States we have a saying, "It's a free country." Which means you can paint it whatever color you want.

Maybe Norway has laws about using the wrong brand of paint on a farm implenent? Just kidding, as I am sure they do not.

If you feel the blue you have is "close enough" then go ahead and paint the plow that color.

We live next to the Soviet Union, but here in Norway we have the same say as you... Its a free country :D
Well then I try the Fordson blue, I think this colour will be nice.

International blue is a match I think Valspar makes it found it in an Ace hardware here in US. Don't know if you can find it in Norway but is darker than Ford blue.

You will not find "Cub-193" anywhere on the plow. It is in multiple original IH documents.

The blue color is a fairly dark blue. Many people end up with a lighter shade when repainting. There is a "Ford blue" commonly seen in this country that is noticeably lighter. I'm not that familiar with proper Fordson blue to know if it is darker. In this country, there are available "Van Sickle 460 International Blue" and "Ace Hardware International Blue" that are good matches.

Here are 2 items that may be helpful. One is a 1940 set of IH paint chips. The other a discussion thread on another site with a picture of a Cub-193 with the original paint. I hope the links are allowed.

You can get a lot of variation on what digitized colors look like depending on the camera and video display. I suggest you take a digital picture of your Fordson blue and display it side-by-side with the above linked pictures. That is probably the best comparison you will get.

mine is Red and the paint is original the depth handle is Red also I think that when they were built has something to do with color. Having in the past a number of cultivators that I owned different paint schemes were used. I did buy a cult off the tractor and B tractor with cult on it and their paint schemes were different from same auction was told by Grand daughter that he did get a new one cause he thought old one was worn and wanted a new one. Sandblasting can bring out original colors when you look careful

I see that the blue at the pictures are much darker than the Fordson blue.
I will think that the old Fordson have the nearest colour.

This colour look more like the colour at the pictures attached of Jim Becker
