Hydraulic Pump Oil Seal

Hey all!

Does anyone have a cross reference or comparable part number for this (356887R91) oil seal on the Thompson pump for a 300U?

I bought the kit from Steiner, the small seal on the distributor side of the pump lasted about 3 hours before it started squiring fluid up the tach cable. I don't want to buy the whole kit again for 80 bucks just to get the seal.

Any help is much appreciated!

That number crosses to CR 8703. Sounds like you might be dealing with a grooved shaft and need to use a speedi sleeve, 99087.

I checked it when I had it apart and it checked out fine. I doubt I damaged it when I pressed it in but you never know. Thanks for the info, you guys are all awesome!

The reason your not holding the seal is that the shaft is not running true because the pump housing bushings are plum slap wore out . The shaft is moving up nd down and side to side way more then it should and i don't care how many seals you try or even if you stuff a SPEEDY SLEEVE in it is going to leak . SOOOOOOO it is time for a NEW PUMP . I don't even try and repair them as it is a waist of time .

I've looked around and they seem like they are hard to find, do you have any suggestions on places to look for one?

On the pump, Hy Capacity lists one but I cannot pull up the price as I have not bought from them for several years and apparently have dropped me. I know they are extremely expensive.

Like the Vet says, worn bushings most likely. Just clamp the pump in a vise solidly and then try to move the shaft side to side. If you can move it, the pump is junk. As far as a speedy sleeve, well, when you install the speedy sleeve on the shaft then the shaft will no longer fit into the bushings. Then that would require align reaming job.
