Did they make a faster 3rd gear for a M? What would cause 5th gear to jump out when driving? My Grandpa had a MD that he said had a faster 3rd gear. We have a 1939 M early production that we are rebuilding the motor. Going to add live hydraulic.

A faster 3rd, then you will two 4th gears the same speed they made a heavy duty tillage 3 rd, and a fast fourth for a M ! 5th gear is a shallow shift[real narrow] and it's been ground off, because it wasn't double clutched, when put into 5th gear !

better put the heavier cam gear if your gonna run a pump off it

I would agree, change out cam gear if live hydraulic, front and and pump off 300 take care of all this.

My 47 M would jump out of 5th because the pilot bearing between the 2 shafts was out. Fixed that and it stays in fifth gear just fine.
