light switch

Have no idea what the engineering specs are but from my experiences with a number of 06,56 and 66s

They are fused at either 15 or 20 amps.

The max stock loading that I know of was 5 4411 or equiv 35 watt sealed beam lights. This is about a 15 amp load.

Extended use at this 15 amp load will eventually overheat the battery terminal causing it to rust (they are made of steel not brass) resulting in a poor connection which causes even more heat.

If you plan to add any additional lights, run them from a relay.

One expensive solution is to change to LEDs. Hope this helps.

15 amp is #14 wire
20 amp is #12 wire

I was putting led's on since the others don't work and the wiring is in poor condition. A 24 inch light bar in front and in back. Thought maybe I could use the original switch for that load and skip the old 4411's. They are like holding a candle out there for light compared to the led's.
I had forgot they had a 15 or 20 amp fuse in the light line. Thanks.
