C153 Engine

Can anyone tell me if a high serial number C135 Crankshaft has the same stroke as a C153 Crankshaft. I need the 135 Crank in the 153 to take the pilot bearing and flywheel for a 404 that has a bad C135.

The answer from what I understand is no. The extra stroke and going sleeveless is what makes the 153 cubic inch displacement. You can check this for yourself by going to the CASE/IH parts web site and looking up all tractors that have the C123 engine and compare the part numbers to those that have a C153. 375601R2 is the part number for the C153 with out a pilot bearing. There are two other alternative cranks that have the pilot bearing. The 504 had a C153 with a pilot bearing. I am working on putting a C153 in my C. This engine did not have a pilot bearing. I had a bushing machined and pressed into the fly wheel for a pilot bearing. The transmission input shaft had to be shortened about 7/8" to make it work. C123 cranks are all over the place, not so much the C153's.

Thanks for the response back. I?m trying to put a C153 into my 404. Like you the C153 doesn?t have the pilot bearing. So I assume you had to pull the crank and had it machine to take the pilot bearing. Did you use the std pilot bushing or did you put in a roller bearing?
