So I have read as many posts as I can regarding a 300U, Clutch adjustment, and IH TA and cannot seem to narrow this down.
I bought a 300U a few months ago, has a front loader and intend to use it to move some dirt around the property. Had a multitude of issues but the one I can not seem to get a grip on is the difficulty in removing from gear. When on flat ground the tractor shifts in and out of gear fine. When you have forward or rearward pressure the shifter will not come out of gear.
I have read (and do not fully understand) that the TA and the clutch are working together and in effect are hold the tractor in position when the clutch is push down. I have also read that the main clutch can be disengaged and the TA not disengaging will hold pressure not allowing the shifter to be moved.
I have done the TA adjustment and it does not work meaning that it is not going into low. The tractor still moves forward and holds pressure with the TA handle in low so I am not sure it is "gone" but it is not working currently (no change in ground speed). I adjusted it according to the manual and then again after reading the posts about adjusting after the unit has some wear on it.
I have adjusted the main clutch and while it is nearly out adjustment it does disengage the clutch and function normally.
I removed the view window from above the TA and when the handle is thrown I can see the throw out bearing and clutch unit moving rearward but it does not appear to be releasing, almost like the ta clutch disc is stuck to the TA body.
Is there a way to adjust or disengage the TA, for my purposes it does not have to work. I am only really interested in getting the unit to shift easier when I have forward or rearward pressure. The TA is a nice feature but not something that is required for my purposes.
Thank you,
Brian
