Super m fenders

Planning to put fenders on Super M. I have fenders and brackets but this tractor has never had them. I've cleaned out the bolt holes, ran a tap
in them to clean out threads. Severally holes don't have enough threads to hold a bolt. None are really good. Does anyone make a insert I
could put in those 7/16 threads so that I could use a 3/8 bolt. Or if I reamed them out to a slightly larger size can I be successful tapping 1/2
threads in that cast? Ideas?
I'm certainly not only one ran into this. I could weld them to 3 pt hitch brackets but didn't want to.

Read up on heli- coils. I've put a bunch of them in at work, don't know what they cost because I wasn't paying for them. Would come in a kit with a drill bit, a tap, an installer and a few of the thread coils.

Heli coils will do it. They are a little pricey
Take your time. Cast can be tough.
May want to recheck the hole size they should be 1/2 standard thread

Interesting. Can't imagine how they would be half inch but will look again. It took much effort 1/4 round at the time to work a 7-16 tap in the hole. Also several holes will tighten good with a 7/16 bolt. I'll certainly look again.

Those holes are certainly 1/2 inch. I would take a drill bit for 1/2 inch tapped hole (27/64) and run it in the hole. That will clean the rust out to the threads. I have had trouble just trying to tap them as they get really rusty after all those years of filling with water.
