New 300 Row Crop - Hydraulics

My "new" 300 runs. I used it a day or two after it'd been sitting for two-ten years. Next morning the fast hitch would not raise. The fluid is milky (water in it, I suppose). I've ordered an operator's manual. Here are a couple of questions, tho:
1) is there a filter or screen to clean (like my 460 has)?
2) what should I use for hydraulic fluid/oil?
Thanks. The second question has probably been asked & answered many times. I appreciate your patience in seeing it again. Thanks, kelly

I would put some relatively cheap fluid that supposedly meets hytran requirements. Make sure everything works fine and no leaks. Try to get the fluid good and warm. Then drain it (repeat if you feel it is necessary) and replace with Hytran. No sense in wasting high dollar Hytran on flushing the nasty fluid out. The screen is on the right side of the tower behind the plate with 4 bolts.

Where is the tower? What does it look like? Where
is it in relation to something I know, such as
carburetor, distributor, oil filter, etc?

The plate and drain are right in front of the brake pedals. The tower is where the dash is, hydraulic levers and valves are located. There is a brass screen behind the plate.

If you want the hydraulics to be very responsive you will need to use a low viscosity oil such as transmission or power steering fluid once you get the system cleaned. The old "Lift Oil" sold by IH was much the same as auto transmission fluid.
