On ebay there a 12 volts starter conversion kit for farmall a b c.is the field coil the only item that needs to be changed went converting 6 volt starter to 12 volt.
 
No need to change your starter to 12 volt . Just don't keep winding on it too long and it should be fine .

If lights, change to the appropriate 12 V bulbs. If going to negative ground, reverse leads on ammeter.
 
EVERY tractor I own that was 6 volts from the factory is not 12 volts and still on a 6 volt starter and have been for decades. A 6 volt start work just fine on 12 volts and will last as long if not long then on 6 volts
 
Yup, complete waste of money. They work fine on 12V, and if they don't they were wore out to begin with.

Some complain that the starter "slams" on 12V, but you WANT that to happen. It means the starter drive is fully, positively engaging the ring gear on the flywheel, not limp-wristing it and just catching the edge like when it was on 6V.
