Farmall m value

I am looking at a 1941 m Farmall. Sheet metal is fair, the points evidently stuck in the voltage regulator and burnt the wiring. It was then parked
outside now the engine is stuck. The front tires are shot, back tires have good tread but are weather cracked. Has one set of wheel weights.
100 percent original still 6 volt with a generator. What is a fair price? Some of you will say scrap value but what is that as I know iron prices
have dropped. I intend to fix it not scrap it or part it out. Sheet metal is good except for a couple bent grill bars.

Probably around $300-500

i would venture a guess of 300 to 500 at the most. problem with many sellers is they think it is a collector item and worth a fortune. you can trow a lot of money real fast in one and they really dont bring what you put in them.

That's about what a tractor in that condition brings at auction these days.

Farmall M's don't bring what they did. The last ones I watched sell was I. Nov 2016. They were restored but sat outside and the paint badly faded. They belong to a friend he had three or four. None of them brought over 700. One was Louisville that he searched for ever to find. He did a ton of work on it. It sold for 600-700.

I would say its worth $200-250.

Thanks guys, I was thinking $300 at the most. You are not going to make any money fixing up these more common tractors. You just do it for your own enjoyment!

An M in that kind of shape is worth no more than scrap price and scrap price is extremely low right now. Not much of anything. Would be worth more if parted out.

Kind of a shame but even if you do not have a battery a person needs to turn the fan so as to turn the crank periodically to keep from setting up. Maybe squirt some oil down through the spark plug holes to boot. That and make sure no water gets down the exhaust pipe.

That M looks to be in good shape with good rims and such. Around here I would pay $800 for that all day long because the tires and rims look good.
If the engine is just set and not full of water it might not be all that hard to get going.
If you got that for $200-$500 you got a steal.

Pictures usually make a tractor look better than it actually is, though on rare occasions it's the other way around.

There's still some paint left so it hasn't been sitting out all that long. Overall the tractor does not look like it was abused much, though we can only see one side.

Running M's in that shape bring $800-$1000 at auction here. I personally would not pay more than $500 for this one on first glance, knowing the front tires are shot, and the rears are potentially rotten, and the engine is potentially scrap.

Though just going by the patina, I would say it's not locked up too terribly bad, as long as the exhaust has remained covered.

Burn wiring, needs regulator, battery and probably a generator could add an extra $200 plus to fix. Stuck engine, poor tires, uncovered exhaust. Today it would be a better parts tractor than a candidate to restore, 20 years ago it would be very different. $200 to $400 salvage value is still two to four times scrap value.

He is asking 700 but he is dreaming. It sat out with an open exhaust, and had water in it. Rear tires have good tread but are weather cracked. Front tires are split open and hold air for 30 minutes.

Unless you have some sort of attachment to it, probably better pass. If there is attachment, go ahead and get it. What's a few hundred bucks either way. Just don't expect to make money on it.

Expect to find much water in diff/trans. Many bad brgs. there too.
