your block is probably plugged at the bottom of the sleeves as there holes about the size of a nickle coin and they can get plugged from yrs of bad water. Drain the system and fill with vinegar run for a while and drain it just mite fix the problem. If not remove the radiator and lower water housing from the block then you can use a wire and unplug those holes. They can be seen using a lite it has solved the problem for me

I think you should try to get the 40% vinegar, instead of the 5%, that what i used on my 806 tractor, it cleaned that up good, and even stained the rock and gravel where i drained it!

NOT sure what you've got going on, looks like a couple of the other guys have given you some good info.
In addition to what they've told you, TS cooling systems are pretty much "bullet proof".

Since you are experiencing possible overheating and "gurgling", it is possible you have a bad head gasket or other issue that is allowing combustion products to leak into the cooling system.

Shine a light through the radiator core and see if it is plugged with dirt. Just because you feel air off the fan doesn't necessarily mean the air is flowing through the core. You will never see water movement in a properly operating thermo-siphon system. A failing head gasket could also produce the symptoms you describe

Timing , never heard of setting timing at 8 degrees on that
engine. Top dead static timing and around 30 btdc full throttle.
Depends on magneto or battery ign system and what pistons and
head.
