Im looking for a radiator for a 63 farmall 140. I rather not get a new one. Anyone have a line on a used radiator that has no leaks?

good luck. already went through that with a 140 tractor. The old radiator was leaking and radiator shop said as soon as they fixed a leak another would come up because it is 50 years old and is thin. I bought
a good looking radiator from a parts guy that said it didn't show any signs of leaking. Well....it had a decent leak from where the joint had vibrated loose at the top of the core behind the framework. I ended
up buying an aftermarket radiator......cheapest I could find and it is working well, BUT I will say go ahead and spend $100 more on the better radiator offered. I didn't because I already was $100 into the
used one. The new one I got was the cheaper ($300) one and I had to cut and trim the framework and really make it fit in there. It was more of a problem when mounting the sheetmetal to the tractor too. I've
heard the "best" aftermarket radiator will not have that issue. I will also add that the radiator shop said they could re-core the original for about the same price as the aftermarket one. That is probably the
best way to go so it is original fit.

For what it's worth.

Thanks for the response. I found the new radiators range from 330 up to 500 or so. That is hard to swallow when we are just talking about a radiator. I did call into a guy that claims to be able to record radiators. We will see what kind of price he is able to come up with, but I was afraid it would be about the same like you said. This radiator has seen better days. Like you said, when you try to repair one small leak, the heat creates another. I have contemplated finding a radiator made for another new model tractor which should be a fraction of the cost, and making it fit. After all, all radiators do the same job. Not sure if that is just ignorant or genius though.

bite the bullet and go with original. It has to fit correctly and if it doens't the sheetmetal wont either.
