carburation settings for gas 350 International

have main fuel jet at bottom of carb open to 3-5 turns , go from there. 3/4-1 turn out on mixture screw is where i end up.

Idle adjustment which is the one up close to the manifold is set at 1.5 turn out form bottom and the main jet a good starting point is 4 turn out form bottom. Those are just starting points and depending on thing you have to adjust them to get them correct for where you are. A carb setting will be different where ever you at. Example if you where in Denver CO it would be set different then it would be if you lived by the beach in FL

That all said other things that can cause that is erratic spark so one should check spark at the plugs. You need a good blue/white spark that jumps a 1/4 inch gap or more

Old, My fellow Missourian, I did not want to put my comments in your reply, but you may want to tell him which way to turn the screws to richen or to lean the mixture

Well I try to comment in such a way to give the person some sort knowledge of things

Tell us more by what you mean by "not running smoothly." It's quite possible you can adjust those needle valves until the cows
come home and it won't make a darn bit of difference. I have a hunch you've already done that with no positive results.

set the ideal mix at 1 1/2 thruns off the seat and set the main load screw 4 1/2 off the seat to start . Allow the engine to reach operating temp and do the fine adjust from there . Now all this also requires that the valves are set to factory spec.'s and ing timing is also set . Make sure the manifold gskt and manifold have no air leaks . IF your dist. is loose and causen points bounce you will never get it set to where it runs smooth .
