IPTO onto H???

I've got a dumb question. I have a Farmall 300 Row Crop with an independent power take off. Could that be removed and used on my old '39 Farmall H? kelly

Only if you start at the bellhousing to engine interface and replace the entire rear half of the H. It then becomes an HTA. Which requires much effort to make work as the 300 rear is longer than the H and nothing fits without modifications, except the bellhousing does bolt up. Jim

Think if you measure from front of clutch housing to axle housings you will find a H and 300 the same length and not hard to add. But then you have to consider if hydraulics are wanted you will have to add. Then a 300 type flywheel and clutch setup and different starter and battery location changed. Then the 300 transmission cover will need modifications to mount the steering post and rear fuel tank support. If H transmission cover is used the shift forks need made up or a combination of both sets of forks modified to work with the 300 sliding gears. 300 shifter will need modified also using 300 top cover. If I remember correct the length of frame rails makes a 300 longer than a H. H frame rails are used for swap. If the 39 is original it could be worth enough to sell and buy a IPTO tractor or less than what would be spent adding parts to make your change..
