H farmall getting wore out

Ive got an h farmall that I feed hay with bush hogg and what ever else needs to be done around the house.
It has a 3pt hitch
I know its old and their good tractors but kinda getting tired of always having to work on it every time I go to use it.
Wish I could afford to update but atleast its paid for tho

If you generally like the tractor then I would rebuild it. If the truth be known any tractor of that vintage has probably been rebuilt more than once if it has a lot of hours on it. It makes for a nice story to say grandpa's tractor has 25,000 hours on it and has never been rebuilt but that is seldom the truth for most tractors.

What kind of work are you having to do when you go to use it?

There were like 378,000+ H's made. Plenty of parts out there and good usable tractors that you won't have to work on every time you go to use them for <$1000.

Not sure where you are at. Myself located in MN I sold 1947 farmall h like new rear rubber new valve job rebuilt steering sector nice clean tractor for $1250. If yours is due for everything locate a better one and sell yours to recover some of the costs

We were lucky....found one with what appeared to be original rear tires (Goodyear Sure Grip 11-38's) on it. Decided to reprint it and put all new tires on it...matching Titans...and new seat. Nice tractor now, too bad it's just a toy for us...it's just an excellent '51 H Farmall.

I think there are probably enough H's in this state to place one on every mile corner,
and good ones are selling very reasonable.

I use my old M to grind feed about once every week or 10 days. I finally had to regap the points here about a month or so ago when it wouldn?t start. That?s the first time in all of these years she failed to go. It was my first ?big? tractor on the farm and my first loader tractor.

I paid $800 for it many years ago with live hydraulics and power steering. Oddly, you?d pay about that for its twin today. The bottom has fallen out of those machines.

I think finding a "good one" may sound good, but in reality, anything you buy generally will be being sold for a reason.

Around my neck of the woods (Michigan) there are plenty of cheap H's. Not many though that would have life left at under a grand.
