just got the 240 u out of the shed to get it ready for spring. ran it around a little and it was fine. went to re-start it and the governor spring that comes off the throttle control slipped off. looks bent. i just ordered a new one from this site. can i just pull the front cover off the governor housing to change it, or is it more involved? i can see the spring thru the oil fill hole.

heres a couple pics of the spring

Yes, if you can keep the governor itself from sliding forward and disengaging from the distributor drive.

If it disengages and the tabs on the distributor drive don't slide back in the slot in the governor and you tighten down the governor housing something's gonna break.

ok, sounds like a plan. if i reach tru the oil fill and hold the governor shaft, i should be able to get the cover off without having the shaft come off?
