Cultivating with a high crop revisited

We have a late 140 high crop. I have often wondered if there were special implements for them. Ours came outfitted from the dealer for a town owned nursery, so one would think if there was something special for it, it would have had it. Anyway, what I have found is that it is not possible to get the tools horizontal (flat) enough to the ground, in the way they're designed to operate, so they're always digging v-grooves. It still does the job and has been for a long time, but it sure would be better if the tools were less upright, like they are on our C. Maybe I'm missing something in the adjustment. The tools do eventually wear so that they are running at the right angle ---- and then it's time to change them.

No expert here but I do know that the cultivators for the high crop were different than for a regular model. I have a set for an AV and they have "drops" to accommodate the higher mounting position.

Drops where? Any chance you could post a picture? I'll have to go over and have a good look at ours and take a picture too.

Picture is going to be tough as those cultivators are on a pallet buried pretty deep in the inventory - but I'll try. For the fronts, the drop occurs right where the big square slides into the front bolster. For the rears, the bracket that bolts to the axle housing has a long drop. I'll see about some pictures tonight.

I'll try to get a pic but in the meantime, just do a google search for Farmall Cultivator AV and scan the pics. There not the best but keep looking and studying and you'll get the idea. The big square that slides into the from bolster drops. There's also another style that bolts to those eye holes in that front bolster.
