MN Snowfall - First Time REALLY Using the M!

Hello all! Well, I know I have been fairly quiet lately... Picked up a new project - My first MM. a 1944 ZTU. As many of you know, I like a little bit of all colors... So that will be a new adventure for me. We are also about a month away from closing on our new house (if everything goes right)... So having all the (now 6) tractors in the same place will be fun!

Anyhow, today I finally got the M out to play in the snow. Been going on two years with having it done, and haven't gotten to properly use the loader that I installed on it (the Farmhand 'Standard')... After some very tiring battery swapping, jumper cables, hand cranking and realizing that I probably have a weak starter.. I finally got it to fire. Here are a few photos, and a video included of the morning shenanigans! It was a blast to finally climb on the back of this beast and do a little work. Even if it was for just a half hour or so. I look forward to when I can do this at the new house all the time! I hope you guys enjoy the video as much as I did.. In our area, we probably got a solid 10-12 inches of snow yesterday and last night.

Hope you are all having a great winter so far!

1947 Farmall M First Time Plowing Snow

Mark - Our date is set for May 18th of this year! And we are in the final stages of buying our next house! Now, if I could just recruit some people to help me build a pole barn.....

Ken the old m sounds really good. I plow my drive with a Farmall 300. I painted the inside of my loader bucket with a product called Lubriplate. It keeps the snow from sticking in the bucket, works real well. I enjoy your videos keep them coming.

That is what I had planned! Should make quick work of putting up trusses! Leveling a grade, though... I don't think will be practical with this loader and tractor.

Thank you sir! I will definitely put that in my 'toolbox' of to-do items... I have to do a little repair work on the bucket itself anyhow - a couple corners are showing some cracks so I will have to reinforce them.

Every tractor I have needs a little bit of something.....

Lubriplate is a very fine line of greases and lubes produced by Fiske Bros. Refinery. THEY make a great grease or lube for everything. But I don't think they make anything for coating a loader bucket to keep snow sliding off. I bet you put SlipPlate on your bucket, a graphite paint, dark dark gray color, brush or spray on. Was originally made to paint wagon floors and sides so wet corn, oats, beans, etc would slide out easier. There's other brand names out there too.

Hay guys ken has a good you tube chanel there. you can see all kinds of neet things. check it out and subscribe. Ken keep us posted on the new place. thabks Bob

Bob,

Thanks for the shout - out and I will definitely keep you posted. We are coming down to the wire.. Just waiting to hear on the appraisal for our townhouse for the buyer's lender... That is really the last thing! Hopefully it comes back ok. Buyer is coming in with a VA loan, no money down, and is wrapping in his closing costs... Needless to say we are confident, but we are definitely a little nervous as well.

Say a prayer everyone, we could use some good luck for once! :)

Hey I pushed a lot of snow with my Farmall M. What a great tractor!
You should get yourself a set of chains for it, that will make it twice the tractor in snow and ice
Brian

It really is a great tractor! I, someday, would like to install a Super M live hyd. pump on it and the reservoir as well. I think it would be real beneficial. I would like to get a couple sets of rear weights to see how that helps... Then from there will go to chains.
