Voltage Regulators universal?

if an MTD is a lawn mower No. Some regulators are "kinda" universal. They are not best for use on Generators. Generators are not
self current limiting, and can overheat if the regulator does not control max current to the output of the gen. For use with an
alternator (with an external regulator) universal fit is more likely. Jim

you need a regulator made for the gen just get the Delco Remy model # on the plate and go from there and get one from Car Quest as they are USA made.

Hmmm, was thinking of a M tractor reg, maybe that is not what I had looked up! Part # ih 121578-c2, but Google searches are pulling up lawnmowers. Saw a nos reg for sale and thought I'd stow it away if/when mine goes south. Thanks for the info.

Good to know Car Quest regs are made in USA too.
