Cultivating with a Hi-Crop

I have a question about Hi-Crop machines.

I understand the premise; hi-crops are for field work where crops were grown higher and still needed cultivation when they'd reached higher than provided for by standard height tractors. However, I've never seen a picture of a hi-crop actually cultivating, and I can't help but wonder if there were special cultivators used for these machines. Cultivators obviously had horizontal components, so any standard cultivator it seems would impact the crop, regardless of tractor height. I've reviewed the old IHC catalogs and I don't see anything about a "V" cultivator...

What am I missing?

Thanks

I've wondered the same thing. Have never seen a hi crop tractor with any mounted implements,or even a picture. Would be nice if a 'restorer' would include the implement too.

There were high-crop cultivators. For tractors that used the universal mounting frame designs, most of the difference was in the UMFs. In cane country, the high-crop tractors were used to build and knock down the raised beds. They typically used heavy-duty tool bar implements (rear mounted).

I did see a high 130 at 2017 RPR. It had the AV-144 UMFs but no tool bars. I didn't see it during the show but happened to see it on a trailer ready to leave.

I have a Super AV and have been looking for a set of cultivators for a few years. Only parts come along, nothing complete. One time a set came up in New Jersey that was affordable (that is the flip side of the problem) but the fella, now way no how, would pallet and ship. It was frustrating because he was not real nice about it.

Dave I don't see why a regular cult would not work on your hi-crop. The pressure rods can be adjusted enough to work and the shanks rebolted closer to the top of the shank so thy would work just fine

Anyone have a picture? Ideally, I'd like to see an MV culitvating, if someone has one handy.

(quoted from post at 17:09:59 02/20/18) Saw a AV with cultivators. Not sure if they are regular cults or not. May be worth it to someone to look at this craigslist ad.
Is this an A or Super A as has live hydrulics and a Delco? vertical distributor. Fresh paint as grill is somewhat beat up. Shovels are blue.

I am not all that familiar with them, but I trust your knowledge of offsets. That will open up the field wee bit. I can look for either. Thanks!

HV and MV tractors had different tooling depending on crop they were used in. Cane tools were rear mounted and some veggie , but most veggie cultivators were front mount. AV tractor tooling was different because the tractors were smaller and lighter .
