M radiator adjustment

Hello. I removed the radiator from my M for flushing and new belts and hoses. When putting it back on I
noticed the steering shaft would rub on one side of the radiator hole. I dont know if it was doing this
before or not but I was wondering if it is advisable to adjust the radiator with different thicknesses of
rubber belting under each side of the radiator, or are you to adjust it by tightening down the two bottom
bolts with the springs on them at different rates in order to move the top of the radiator over a little
ways. Thanks for any help, John.

Do what is necessary to locate the radiator where it is supposed to be. Some of those aftermarket rubber mounting pads are NOT of the correct thickness. You may need to make your own.

It might be that it will all straighten out when you actually begin to tighten all fittings and hoses etc, or you may have dropped a rubber pad from the bottom and not realized it. I recently did the same work to my 400 and the hose kit I bought said it was for M or 400 and the other variations in the line but the top hose was 1.5 inches too short for a good fit on the 400 so I bought a new upper hose and cut it to length. The hose in the kit looked just right for an M. Lots of variables in the equation. I don't have a great deal of experience with the situation, having only done two. My 400 and my friends M. But I think the studs and springs on the bottom mounting will not give you the desired adjustment if the radiator needs to moves a great deal. Just my 2 cents... Good luck!

You can make a shim whatever thickness you need.A chunk of flat belting is best,or a tire sidewall can be udes too.I would not use steel shims or washers.
