ok i am looking for info, my good friend bought a 1955 300u tractor, and its a good original survivor, lp powered, now the odd thing is this tractor has a factory pan seat on it, when we removed the seat from the rear housing it wasnt painted under the bracket, so apparently the bracket was in place when ih shot the paint on the tractor , but, every photo i can find of 300 u's shows a square upholstered seat, with arm rests, its not a big deal, but why does this tractor have the pan? was that a customer choice?

Yes, I have seen one tractor with that seat on it. Had the seat mounted on a piece of spring steel to act as a sort of shock absorber. Held on with two clamp-like pieces that you could slide the seat toward the front or back a little bit. I believe it is shown in the parts catalog; called something like a "low seat attachment". Hope this helps.
