Trailering F30 on steel wheels

Im going to pick up a f30 this weekend and im looking at trailers to haul it with. Enternet says the tractor is 90” wide but doesnt tell me what exactly measures the 90”. and the current owner says it measures 9’ outside to outside of the rear wheels.

The local rental store has a 7’6” wide flatbed trailer and may be my only option. Any one haul a similar f30 on a similar trailer?

Juat looking for some reassurance before i drive 3 hours one way. Thanks for any and all info.
 
While it is a pain to adjust them they can be adjusted so it can be narrowed to fit BTDT on an F-12 I had and one a couple other tractor due to being to wide for my trailer
 

The f30 like my f20’s are not adjustable like the f12. I think the wheels can be reversed but not alot to gain there.
 
Our F-30 sitting on 12 inch rear steel is just a little less than 91 inch's wide across the rear steel (outside to outside).

That F-30 will NOT fit between the fenders of the trailer in any shape or form, and the rear wheels of the tractor NEED to be centered over the trailer axles. If not centered, the load will be severely un-balanced and unsafe. At best, you will have a very miserable ride coming home. That trailer MIGHT be 7'6" wide, but it is NOT that wide between the fenders.
 
One word. deckover. That's the best,safest nd 'only' way to haul one.Plus be wary of the steel wheels. the lugs will damage a wood deck.U haul will 'fine' the s#1+ out of you. Take some planks to protect the deck.Steel wheels also tend to be 'slippery'. they will slide while a rubber tire will sit tight.A metal deck will be even worse,like greased ice.Use good chain,not straps. Secure the crap out of it.Food for thought.....
 

No fendars at all. Its a deck over flat bed trailer. I learned that lesson the scarry way a few years back. I will not make that mistake again.
 
Take the rear wheels off and slide the F-30 on its "Bull Gear" casing onto your trailer. Slide it on until the load is almost balanced and used the wheels along side the engine to finalize the balance.
Assuming you have a tandem axle trailer, use the "Eveners" as guides to the balance. "Tongue Heavy" is better than "Tongue Light."
 
Watch out for the ramps,the lugs will drop through the open ramps, and you are stuck half on the trailer.

Wondered about that. Maybe ill take some plywood and cover the ramps so they will be smooth.
 
If I had to load a F30 on a flat bed trailer and it wouldn't fit between the fenders, I would make ramps so you could back the thing on, drive over said ramps so it would clear the fenders and the rear tires would come out in front of the fenders.

A lot of trailers are 82" between fenders. Hauling a tractor like that should be done on a deck over. But that sketches me out because of the steel wheels having to climb up a wood dove tail. I had a wheel slip on me once doing that and the tractor starting turning left. I reacted fast enough to hit the brakes and clutch in to stop it but it was kind of a scary experience.

This is why i do not plan to drive up onto the trailer. I will winch it up on the flatbed. Saftey first. And i think i might back it onto the trailer making it easier to unload.
 
The wide rear end F-20s & 30's are a pain to transport, which is why the narrow rears are more coveted.

I did successully move a wide rear F-20 several years ago on a standard car hauler. I had to build an 8' wide x 3' long platform
out of some stout 2" oak planks that I had that went up to the rear of the fenders and lag it several places to the deck.
Tractor was winched on, engine forward, until just short of the fenders and chained down. This arrangement makes for a very
tounge-light trailer, which is very unsafe. I had brought along about 800# of sand bags, placed at the front of the trailer for
counter balance, and it worked fine. Made one 200 mile, and another 900 mile trip that way, and several trips to a local show
for a few years.

Awkward? Yup. But it worked with the trailer I had.
