I am restoring a 79 Cub and was wondering if anyone sold sheetmetal hardware for this tractor. If not, can anyone tell me what small bolts or screws are used on the front side panels? the holes are very small and I cannot find screw, bolt to fit. Thanks

I could not find a parts listing for 79, but in 75, which I assume was the same nose assembly they used 10-24 x 3/8, and 10-24 x 5/16 depending on location.

What Cub do you have? As I recall, the last year for off-set Cubs was 1976.
A 1979 would be an International 184. Looks like red oversized Cub Cadet.

Not sure what you guys mean by and offset cub. serial number on this one is 253611, Not much different than most cubs except it has turf tires on the back. I tried the #10 screws on front but they wont work.

Some more info would be helpful as to whether the #10-24 was too large or too loose...

#10 diameter could also be a fine thread #10-32. Smaller would likely be #8-32, larger could be into the #12-24 realm.

Those screws frequently get twisted off in the casting. It would not be unheard of for someone to have drilled out the screws and tapped it for smaller screws.

At that point you're on your own figuring out what they are. They're no longer standard size.

Standard size is 10-24. These guys aren't lying to you. They just can't predict what has happened to the tractor in the past 39 years.

If you have a set of taps and dies you can try different ones and see which one fits rather than running back and forth to the hardware store buying different size screws.

It is likely that these smaller holes are actually drilled and tapped into the original screws, if you want to try and get them out to get it back to the original size.
