I have had many 1206,1456 IH tractors and recently was sent a picture of a true original 1456 Gold Demo.It is a row crop but has no 3pt,still original gold paint runs but hasn't been used for several years. It has 23.1x34 and row crop fenders outside of after market cab.How much value does the gold add? Thanks

Just curious - where did you buy it? My brother had one exactly like that (including the no 3 point) that had the gold painted over with red before he bought it. He never thought anything of it and painted it again (red) while he owned it. He sold it 10-12 years ago when he bought a 7240 to replace it.

A collector might pay some premium for a documented Gold Demonstrator. Someone buying it to use as a working tractor might not put any premium at all on it. Forty, fifty years ago demonstrators had the HP turned way up or maxed out to impress potential buyers. I would be leery that a demonstrator was not turned down when it was sold and now the drive train might be worn out. Look it over closely and put it on a Dynometer to check it's condition.

On a demonstrator tractor The backside of the hood is painted gold too and that?s how you tell it if it?s original

It is difficult to turn up the four roller injection pump that is used on a 1456 compared to the two roller pumps. IH had some failures right off the bat on them and were watching them pretty close.
