International 660 larger front wheels

Not a 660,but an M. A friend wanted wider fronts on his M with loader. The old 6:00 16 were too narrow. He cut the wheel in two pieces, then welded a ring/spacer in the middle to widen them. He then put on 10:00x16 tires. With the nonpowersteering it was a real bear to steer. But those big wide tires sure supported the load!

i am curious why you want wider tires on a 660. the 750 x 18 tires are plenty for that tractor. any wider and it will rub on the steering arm. they kinda rub as is now. you could just get a 10 ply tire instead if its loader work.

Widening the rims is the only way to do it, IF you can even find wider 18" tires.

You can't just split the rims in the middle and widen them, though. The hubs clamp on to that drop center so it can't be any wider than it already is. The widening would have to be done on one side or the other. Since the clearance is so tight, you'd want to widen the outside of the rim.

Here in the states, 18" is a common size on pickup trucks. You can get some really wide tires that may or may not work well on a tractor. I haven't been able to find traditional tri-rib style farm fronts in a size any wider than 7.50-18.

So, practically speaking, it looks like you'd have to go to a different hub to get wider tires.

if you widened the rims with another set then you would need to manufacture different clamps and use longer bolts.

Does your 660 have power assist? If not, could only image it would be harder to turn with a wider front print on the ground. My 560 doesn't turn bad, but not great. I have loader & 7.50-18 on it. Farmer that used to own it haul round bales with it.

No need to ruin another set of rims. Just roll a ring of he correct size. Weld it in such a manner you don't gain any width next to the upright. You don't need to mess with or change the clamps by this method..
