Still messing around with the mag on my H. I
asked some questions a while ago and you guys were spot on. Now, my delima. I think I have it at tdc. But cant see timing marks on the crank pulley. I am going to try it again Saturday morning and see it I have spark after changing the points and condinsor. Sorry about the spelling of these things. I am so embarest That I don't know what I am doing. My dad worked at the local IH shop for over 20 years. He tried to teach me all about this stuff but he passed away before the Mag stuff came up.Thanks for letting me rant and THANK YOU ALL for the help.........Kenny

You dont need the timing marks on the tractor. Get #1 piston on TDC make sure its on compression and not the exhaust stroke. Now with the cap off the mag the rotor should point to the 1 Oclock position get the wires correct firing order 1342 with #1 at the 1 Oclock terminal on the mag and thats all theres to it. If the rotor isnt lined up on #1 when the piston is at the top on compression you need to remove the cover so you can get the rotors gear lined up it should have not moved unless you took the cover off and then got the gears out of alignment somehow as that cover doesent need to be removed changing points or condenser. When you have the mag lined up put #1 wire on a plug thats grounded but not in the hole. By turning engine over with you finger in the hole you should see a spark when the piston hits TDC using the starter mite need someone running the starter but its easy to watch for spark when #1 hits compression.

Thanks Gene. I always seem to make things harder than they need to be.... Thanks again.........Kenny
