m seat spring

i have an aftermarket spring (from stiener i think) under the seat of my m. when i sit on the seat it basically goes all the way down, not all the
way, still bounces some when i bounce on seat. i see some springs on ebay listed as heavy weight, would that keep the seat from going down so far?
also when i take the spring out the seat drops rather quickly like the shock had no resistance to compressing, when i lift the seat i can feel
resistance from the shock, do i most likely need a new shock to? would shock alone make my current spring hold seat up better of just cushion the
bounces more? i'm not a huge guy at 200#

I've read about someone putting a football inside the spring and adjusting the pressure until you get what you like for compression. Never tried it but can see how it might work.

A new shock won't contribute a thing to the height of the seat, it's job is to take the bounce out of it.

I got mine from Steiners and it hardly moves and I weigh about 205. I would bottom out the old one. This is on a Super H.

Got my new spring from Bates Corporation Bourbon, Indiana and it is stiff. I weigh 225 lbs and when i set on it the seat drops about 2 ' and I have never had it bottom out. Schock does help some because it dampens the up and down movement. You also need good rubber bushing in pivot point of seat.

I have used two older weak springs one inside the other it works well and in my opinion looks nicer than the football which also works.

There used to be three different springs but there is only one spring available now.

Take the old spring and twist it together with the new spring. I think you'll like the results.

You need the heavy duty spring. It is black instead of red. I weigh 230. The heavy duty spring works for me.

The last one I looked for Case IH dealer said they could only get it after market and only one ype of spring. They wanted way more for the
same spring that i bought from Bates. The one I got from Bates is very stiff. When you replace spring you should replace the rubber bushings
in seat pivot and they act as a torsion which helps.

well, I am a lot bigger than you guys,(not saying how much) I have two new springs on my M one inside the other, works for me
