504 power steering torque generator

It looks like there are 3 12 point 1/4" cap screws holding the ps unit to the the cast support column,it also looks like the rear yoke is splined on
to the ps unit shaft. If I remove the unit the yoke should slide off the shaft. Has any body had any experience with doing this ? Thanks DTK.

Not on a 504, but the torque generators on my 240,340 and 404 are similar. There`s a splined 3/16" pin you have to drive out and then you should be able to pull the yoke off. When new they`re a tight fit, so you may have to pry between the yoke and torque generator. Those upper 21 spline yokes are worth their weight in gold. New from Case IH, they`re $425. I`m in the midst of a project to repair the yoke on my Farmall 340 as mine was worn badly. I`m splicing a 21 spline yoke from a 424 onto the 340 , which has a much longer yoke, as does your 504. The top pic is a torque generator from a 404 at a salvage yard and bottom pic is my F340 yoke that I have to weld the 424 spline part to. Hope this helps.

thanks for the reply, it looks as if there is a hole I the support casting where you can run a punch through. But all I see is the edge of the yoke. And the opposite end of the yoke is closed so you can't see the shaft. What wears the shaft or yoke? The hand pump has to come out to get the yoke completely off I would think. Thanks DTK.
