So I checked the oil in my 584 the other day and it was low. So I add a quart of oil to it and well it did not bring it up to the full mark so how many quarts of oil does it take to bring it up from min to max??? Thanks

Nope I started with one and that did not do it so I added a 2nd one and still not full

You check the oil when it?s cold you add oil to it until it read full it might take one or it might take a whole lot more that?s how you check the Oil

Guess no one wants to really answer this one. On a car if it is at the add line it takes 1 quart to fill it but on this 584 2 quarts is not enough so with out knowing the correct answer it is hard to know how much oil one need to pick up to fill it back up. This is a simple question and there should also be a simple answer that is better then any that I have gotten

I guess no one wants to give me the answer or no one knows the answer. This is a simple question and there should be a simple and correct answer to it. I know a car or truck if the oil level is at the add mark it takes 1 quart to fill it back up but on this IH584 2 quarts is not enough to bring it from the min mark to the max mark and I also know it is not good to over fill an engine with oil so that is why I asked this question so I know how much oil to buy

The question was ask how Much oil to add who knows you ask we Said. I had shop foreman said it never used Any oil Because there?s no oil in it then he would pull out the dipstick with some other customers around I need walked up to them and he would ask them he would say what do you think we use this dipstick over in Korea war boy he would get some answers then he would say you guys want to know the answer and they said yeah to check oil

Again you answer with no real info how can one go buy oil to fill it back up to the max point if one does not know how much oil one has to buy. Only diesel I have on the place so it takes an oil I do not keep in stock

Oil level was on the add mark and I added a quart and it was still not at the max mark so added a 2nd quart and it still if not at the max mark so that is why I asked this question

The data shows 8.8 quarts capacity. It does not say if that included filter. I am not sure if that dip stick is like the D-310 or not, which is mounted on the side of the oil pan. If it is , you have to be tricky to get the correct reading as when you put dip stick in it pushes the oil out of the tube. Also, if you pull it out real fast it can suck a little oil back up into tube. Slow and easy is the word and do it several times to get an accurate reading. Two quarts should readily bring it up from the add mark to full mark.

Well this dip stick has a sort of guide plate about 2 inches or so from the end of it so I could see if pushing or pulling oil when you put it in or out. Also has a twist lock at the top so it can be locked in

Hi Old, 584 takes about 9 litres(9.5 US Qts) for crankcase oil and filter change.
As Pete says to get a proper reading on the dipstick requires tractor to be level and loosen the top dipstick to let air out of tube. I always took 3 measurements cleaning dipstick each time.

I think really should only be a quart from low to full.Sometimes when I add oil,I won't get a full reading until I let it set over night.I have slightly overfilled my 495(same dipstick set up) before.Mark.

On our 574 has the D-239 engine we always figured 10 qts to do an oil change with the filter. About 2 Qts should get from the low to full mark on the stick. I always just pull it out read it and add. Check afterwards. I don't play the pull and play game with it. I figure with 10 qts if it happens to be down a quart or 2 it is still not going to cause a problem if I am off a bit when reading the stick.
With my trucks they would drop about a quart or 2 and then stay right there for the oil change interval reason for not getting too concerned about a quart or so low. A car I do more with them with the thimbul full they hold.
