a plate for G90 sweet corn

My experience with sweet corn is that it is different sized(varigated) seed. One 'single' plate just wont work like it does for regular field corn. I use a medium round cell plate. Yes,I get a few doubles,a skip here and there,but acceptablefor a large garden plot.To get that 'perfect' stand,you're going to need a JD finger pickup(7000),or some kind of air planter,just like the 'big boys' use.There are several thousand acres of 'Olathe Sweet' sweet corn grown here by two large 'corps'(Tuxedo Corn;Mountain Fresh) and a few farmers. most of them use a high dollar german made air/vacume planter. The rest use Jd 7200/7300 etc.

(quoted from post at 14:41:51 01/27/18) any of yall know what planter plate to use with G90 sweet corn?
===========================

It would help if yall could tell us what brand of planter, what model of planter, whether it is 16 or 24 cell.

Telling us it is "G90" is of no help, sweet corn sizing like hybrid corn really does not exist...but I can help if you give needed info.

Good seed suppliers will usually recommend a plate on the tag.Sweet corn
seed is not graded and sized like it used to be. But their recommendation will
be close. If it's not on label give them a call. They may know.

It's not rocket science: You take the plates you have, and find one that is a good fit for several sweet corn seeds from the package. Like others have said, they're not one consistent size.

I made a plate for sweet corn for my little 1-row planter. Took an extra flat plate I had and used a die grinder with a carbide burr to hog out the slots until the seed fit loosely.
