International 454 Carb Problems

I'm working on a 454 International for a widow in our church. She sent her tractor out to get some transmission work done and when they brought it back they had, according to them, "shorted the fuel shutoff solenoid out and burned it up." Soooo, they took it off and pitched it and plugged the hole. Nice, now it floods, badly. The best I remember of those solenoids they were an anti-dieseling solenoid and also the main jet. I can't seem to find one on the internet. Ironically the first time I worked on her tractor was for this same problem, but that time the wire was broke and it was an easy fix. Does anyone have any ideas?

Possible fix is to use a needle for a non solenoid carb to replace the plug and provide mixture control. Other than getting a new or used solenoid. Jim

Any idea where I can find a needle assembly for these carbs? YT has a replacement for the International carb but not the MS carb. They've got a number to call for MS parts availability. They said they MIGHT have it, so I'll call in the morning.

NOT sure that's all that's all that's going on to flood the engine, but the solenoid is still available through your nearby FIAT dealership, or Messicks on-line.

There is a tractor salvage yard close to where I live here in southern Idaho. It called Burley tractor salvage. They have tons of older tractors of every brand. This might be worth looking into. # is 208-438-5420. Good luck at what avenue you pursue on the project.

I'll keep that number Randy. I'm in Missouri and don't know of any big salvage in my area. Not saying they're not around, I just don't know it.

As you now know the high speed jet is part of the solenoid but I think it must be purchased as a separate part. I got one from that stine company. A while back someone on here took an adjustable jet from a parts tractor of another make that I don't remember and said it worked well.
