Trying to split my son's 1466 between the range trans and speed trans. It seperates about 3/4 inch and will not come apart any farther. We have a manual but no help. Must be missing something. Pto shaft is still in. We need to put in a new pinion.
 
Take the cover off on the bottom of the TA @ speed transmission housing. Take a pry bar and move the IPTO drive gear around. It is binding on the spines. IH had a couple rods with bolts in them. You held the gear solid when pulling it apart and when going back. Will work the way you are doing it. Just have to move the gear around so the splines can slide on the shaft.
