VA injection pump help

I would like to try dissembling and welding a cracked VA pump housing before converting to a newer pump. I have Internationals pump repair manual

Can I get by without the special parts holders/organizers the VA repair manual recommends?

If I recall your pump is from a Klockner Humbolt Deutz? If so I'd look for a Bosch 1000 series A size inline pump and forget the VA pump.

Why not just get a used VA housing?? Bet I have one here if I looked around some. Al 231/757/0064

would that pump be similar to the inline pumps used on second generation Dodge cCmmins diesels?

Nope, second gen Dodge-Cummins uses the much larger P7100 inline Bosch with the RQV governor. NOT what your Deutz needs for farming. Bosch A size pumps are made in 1000, 2000, and 3000 series. Most early Deutz use the 1000 that has the 17MM camshaft. Later Deutz has the 2000 series with the larger 20MM cam drive hub, like later Case and JD use. Cummins 5.9 can have one of several pumps, CAV DPA, Bosch rotary VE, inline pumps are Bosch A, MW, P, and P7100.
