Are there different models of M&W hand clutches for the H? Mine has 4 fiber plates instead of 3 like the literature shows.

Some parts are the same.

The power transmitting parts will not fit.

Are there any interchangeable parts between the Hand clutch for the model H and the M? Could my 1951 H have M components? If so that would make a great unit for it.

There is no way to add a disk, it would add about 5/16 to a device that has maybe .050 extra space.

Probably like the M and early ones had 4 plates.

Can't speak for the H but the first year for the M had 4 disks and later units had 3.

Good question, bought 3 M rears with hand clutch from salvage yard many years ago and already had another. One had the extra disc, think I ask about it on this site at the time and was told due to wear another plate and disc was probably installed. When I compared units, the one with 4 discs had a shaft made different that went in the differential and a couple of other parts different that I can't remember now. Never found a definite answer.

Seems the unit is a little longer than some of the pictures I have seen before. Judging from the internals it was made with four fiber plates. Unless someone bought an extra fiber plate and an extra steel plate to put in. Find that unlikely.
