Question about B

Checked serial number on the B I got yesterday, tag shows model B then to left of serial stamped F.A.B then serial 193039, which the serial listing shows to be a 1947,and there was no serial number on the upper left side of the block. Question is what does the F.A.B. stand for. Thanks for everyone?s help.

FAB...FarmAll B... that's all....engine serial number should be right over mag/distributer(or right side sitting on tractor).

I always get mixed up with the engine serial number and cannot for the life of me remember which side it is on. But with the one tractor I have that is sort of a B but also sort of an A it does not matter because it is the BA I built so the 2 numbers do not match

I did this up, showing general area of engine serial, one time(using a B as the base) to help people out. The basic letter series IH (have one of each so I verified) have it here. I think supers are same, but not sure.

Yes match it up with the serial number list on the left of this page under research and info then serial number then make and model of tractor. Do the math to figure out where that number fit in the list of starting numbers for each year built

same look up as chassis number, also look for the cast date code on the block/head will look like 2 numbers then a letter, the letter is the year. EX. 3.12.J is March 12, 1940.

The serial number list is combining several models, see link. I?ve never had any connection with any of the Farmalls smaller then a model ..C.. . Looks to me like this is showing it falls in the 1941 number group. Some folks reference some data from the state of WI historical society archive, which is more accurate I suspect.
YT serial list for A, AV, B & BN

Whoops, I think you gave the engine number as 70621 which I misunderstood as the tractor serial number. If your tractor serial number from the tagged is 193039 that makes the tractor a 47 model. If you want to know the engine year I think the only way is to check the cast date codes as Cory suggests. Then you only get a date the part was cast not the actual assembly date. I think the rule of thumb is a part was cast and found its way onto the assembly line within a week to 3 months.

Either the serial # on the seat support bracket has been changed or your block cause the # on the block is from an earlier model. You need to check the cast code.
