Just installed new pilot bearing, clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing. Put tractor back together. I now have nearly 1/2 inch between fingers on pressure plate and throw out bearing and almost an 1/8 inch when pedal all the way down. With out a doubt I have done something wrong. Please tell me where I made my mistake.

The fingers moved in as I tightened the six bolts that hold the pressure plate to the fly wheel.

You have to adjust the fingers before you put it back together. Theres a spec for it, but I cant think of it off the top of my head. Well, you can do it from the hole, but its not easy.

Did you adjust the linkage between the clutch pedal and the throw-out bearing assy. I'll have to check the CUB that I have in my shed. I'll be able to tell you where this adjustment is located. When I installed a new clutch in the last CUB I had the same problem. I was able to make the clutch work by adjusting the linkage, not adjusting the levers on the clutch.

(quoted from post at 07:16:10 01/07/18) And how did you adjust the pedal linkage? That is one small hole!
Attached is a picture of the two different types of clutch linkage you may have for your 1948 Cub.

Mine is the one on the left. I pulled the tractor apart again. Adjusted pressure plate fingers to 1 1/4" . Made sure I can turn the adjustment fork if need be. Put it back together. Have 1/8" play between tob and fingers. Hopefully I will test it today
Thank you
